Grace Tsoka Center Director While Grace isn’t from St. Louis originally, you wouldn’t know that from talking to her. She loves Imo’s Pizza, the Cardinals and Forest Park. She moved to Missouri with her husband in 1999, and began working as an office manager at Providence Christian Academy. Four years later, she came to TLC Preschool and took to it like a pro. Under her guidance, teachers and students quickly grew together in faith and love through the implementation of the Howard Gardner Method and My Father’s World curriculum. As director of TLC Preschool, she strives to provide a bright future for kids by giving teachers the flexibility to cater to each student’s needs. This approach helps build crucial skills like sharing, communication and friendship. “I love the constant excitement the kids and the teachers have,” she said. “We strive to provide a place to let your inner kid out.”

Yani Garcia Teacher, 3-year-olds (Owls) Yani has always loved caring for children. In fact, she gained experience as a youngster by taking care of infants and children in her own family. She loves working with children so much that she is pursuing a college degree in education, spending two days a week on campus and taking some online classes, as well. She hopes that her classes will help her develop new ideas on how to best prepare her TLC Preschool students for elementary school. In her classroom, she loves coloring with the kids. “I love to read from the Clifford the Big Red Dog book series because it shows the importance of caring for others, which is something every kid should learn,” said Yani.

Marilyn Hofmann Teacher, Pre-K to 4-year-olds (Foxes) Marilyn is veteran childcare professional. Before coming to TLC Preschool in August, she taught at North County Christian School for several years. Prior to that, she helped out with her neighbor’s in-home daycare. She loves the flexibility she has to shape the curriculum to each student’s needs and to ensure that all of the students are having fun at TLC Preschool. “My favorite thing to do with the kids is “getting their wiggles out,”” said Marilyn. “The children dance around, shake their arms… It’s a fun way to get ready for nap time.”

Mary LeBlanc School Chef Mary has plenty of experience handling the voracious appetites of children. A veteran of educational cafeteria management, she spent four years at the Mehlville School District, planning and preparing food for hundreds of kids. Some staples of hers include stuffed green peppers with Cajun rice, pizza on Fridays and various kinds of pasta. “They usually end up wearing most of it,” she said, and she’s a firm believer in playing with your food. Her talents also extend outside of food preparation. All the murals in TLC Preschool were painted by Mary, bringing life and color to the classroom walls.
